Origami, Week 51
Week 51, December 15th – December 19th
5-Pointed Star

Yet another star. I’m not real sure if I got this right, though…the instructions were sorta vague about this.
Gift Card Envelope

There’s an actual gift card in there. Who’s the lucky person who will get it? Well, I’ll tell you it’s no one who’s reading this. You bunch of ingrates.
Peacock

I feel like they have the same attitude as me. They’re not even trying anymore.
Scrunch Tree

Not sure what this is about, but once again it’s got a bunch of double folds and some reshaping, so it does not get the seal of approval from me.
Shell Decoration

This didn’t quite turn out the way it was intended. All those…ruffles were supposed to look like the pattern on seashells. Somehow…it’s less impressive than that.
As always, these origami designs were found in the Origami Page-A-Day Desk Calendar.

A Boon to Political Comedians Everywhere
So, Rod Blagojevich has been in the news recently, due to his ridiculous corruption complaint. Now, as a Illinoisian among Californians, this makes me the local expert in the nature of the Land of Lincoln’s corruption. I needed to explain to these people that although, yes, I voted for this bum (twice!)….you should see the people he was running against! Well, okay, in retrospect, I could have made some better choices. But in Rod’s honor, I humbly submit some Daily Show clips. In his honor. And thanks to Comedy Central’s new embedding code…it will look really strange.

Satellite Delay Sucks
I always cringe when I see an interview done via satellite, because there is often some sort of time delay. And this time delay always makes the interviewee look like an idiot. Always. They look like they’re slow, grinning or looking at the camera, listening intently, when there’s silence on the air. This interview is no exception; Howard Dean looks like an idiot. When he grins, he kinda reminds me of Phil Hartman’s Frankenstein. But there’s something different here. One, he actually acknowledges the time delay. And second, he absolutely makes the best response I’ve ever heard. Awesome ad lib.

I Love Brian Williams
Hopefully that will not rate too highly on a Google Search. Anyways, the guy exudes arrogance, but as I’ve said before….he makes for a great interview on TDS every time.

The Dangers of Cloning
While I try and get back on track with my work, I’ll post a great look at cloning by The Daily Show. I normally don’t think that Rob Riggle’s segments are the best, but he does a great job with the ending of this one.

State Representatives are Crazy
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the Daily Show, it’s that the more local in government you go, the better chance you get some crazies. An example below:

Yet More Daily Show
I actually recall April 12th’s Daily Show as being one of the best of the year. But until now, I had no recourse to share! Warning: Full of Sarcasm!!!

Yet More Classics
Well, I just finished reading Stephen Colbert’s new book, I Am America (And So Can You!), so here’s a classic in his honor.

Glory of Glories
What, perchance, is this cat looking at? No doubt the new Daily Show Video Archive. While I mentioned it before, I hadn’t actually visited it until today. My gosh, the memories. It’ll be a lot easier to scrounge up classics now. Speaking of which, I always enjoyed the climax to this Ed Helms Segment:

Recurring Guests Breed Familiarity
You know, I think Brian Williams exudes an air of arrogance. He seems like a bit of dick. But I have to say, he is always a good interview on the Daily Show.
And to understand the “Giant Head” thing, you have to see this :
Finally, some music. I really like the concept of They Might Be Giants. I love that they exist. But I’ve found that I really only like one or two tracks per album. But I do like this song off their latest album.
They Might Be Giants, Climbing the Walls, from the album “The Else”.
