A Return to Chicago, August 2009

I was in Chicago at the end of July/beginning of August, but not three weeks later I found myself back again. Cameron and Gina were having a wedding reception! I know what you’re thinking. Wasn’t there some sort of reverend activity back in September? Well yes, there was. But you know, parents prefer it to see their kids getting married, rather than just hearing about it, so they decided to have a little ceremony in Chicago, and invite more than two people. I didn’t remember to take many pictures, because I was all caught up in the moment, but here they are, along with a picture courtesy of Dave Clutter.

Sachin Loves His Tongue
Since the reception was in Chicago, I decided to just stay with my sister, who graciously offered me a place to crash at her new place on Irving Park. She also nicely drove me around so I didn’t have to EL it around, although it was fairly convenient to get to her place from Downtown on the Red and Brown lines. Anyways, here’s Sachin. He really loves to stick his tongue out, and I finally caught him on it. I wonder if this will change when his teeth come in.

The Bride Enters
A number of Gina’s relatives flew in from South Korea, so her father was on hand to walk her down the aisle.

Standing at the Altar
This reception was, overall, pretty casual. With Drs. Stephen Downie and Allen Renear serving as MC and Officiant, respectively (both of the UIUC LIS department), there were quite a few information science jokes on the way to some heartfelt comments.

Ladies and Gentlement, Mr. & Mrs. Jones Have Left the Building
Cameron and Gina head out to start the receiving line. That’s what it’s called, right?

That's a lot of Joneses
I’m not going to even try to identify all the Joneses and in-laws here. Let’s just say there are a lot of Joneses and one-off Joneses in this picture.

Looking Serious
Dave Clutter took this picture of me, apparently pretending to be a Secret Service agent of some sort. Some may question my efficacy, but let me point out that no counterfeiting went on while I was posted there. Coincidence? I think not.

Cake Cutting
For the record, this was not just a stunt cake. Also, it was delicious.
