Playing To My Strengths
Every once in a while I remember that I’m signed up with Google Analytics, which compiles the stats for visiting on my website, and I check it out. I haven’t updated this thing in a long while, so its not like I’m expecting lots of hits or anything. But I’m intrigued at the things that I find….
First of all, the hit map.

Of course, America is heavily represented. I’m just amazed that I have most of Western Europe represented. Clearly, my fan base is growing. The second question I might ask is, how are people getting to my site?

About a fifth of people just type my website into their browser. 90% of those hits are probably me. Another fifth of those people get referred here. For that, I need to thank Bruce and Tina and Google Image Search; they supply most of my referrals for people clicking through.
However, I find the most interesting thing is always looking at the 56% of people who get here using a web search engine. Not only do I see which search engines refer me the most, but I see what search terms are used to get here, and I see what I am apparently an authority on.
Not surprisingly, the top items are origami items. What is surprising is how stupidly high I am on Google for various searches. Such as “origami crown” (first page), “origami rat” (third hit!!), and origami dustpan (fourth hit!!!). However, the most awesome hit and subsequent revelation is that I am quite the authority on anti meowing. I really hope Google’s investor’s don’t get a hold of this information. In the meantime, I will need to beef up my anti-meowing information, perhaps create the Anti Meowing Association. I’m pretty sure that acronym isn’t taken.
Yeah, okay, this is all random stuff…I still haven’t got a bunch of videos uploaded to YouTube like I need to. But to all of you viewers out there, I just want to remind you that visiting RanjeetRao.com is like a thermodynamic state function — it doesn’t matter how you got here, it only matters that you’re here. Peace be with you.
