Irrelevance Glorified

You know, I think Brian Williams exudes an air of arrogance. He seems like a bit of dick. But I have to say, he is always a good interview on the Daily Show.

And to understand the “Giant Head” thing, you have to see this :

Finally, some music. I really like the concept of They Might Be Giants. I love that they exist. But I’ve found that I really only like one or two tracks per album. But I do like this song off their latest album.

Every once in a while, The Daily Show uses their video editing skills to put a bit together that is brilliantly scathing. The irony is delicious.

Next, a song that gets in my head everytime it’s on the radio.

Comedy central is maddening. Lots of videos are there, but hidden. You need to find old web pages that link to them.

Not too long ago, The Daily Show lost Stephen Colbert, Ed Helms, and Rob Corddry at about the same time, as these fine comedians moved on to other opportunities. They brought on a slew of new people to test them out. So far, I think the best has been John Oliver. I like this clip because I think it just builds up very well.

I had the honor of attending the 2007 European Ceramic Society Conference in Berlin, Germany this past June, thanks to the help of the NSF and Gary Messing. My presentation was pretty well received, I thought. We also got to visit a number of German institutions, such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems and the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces. So, thanks to ECerS, IKTS, NSF, MPI, and to our friends at Clausthal University who accompanied us and made for great traveling companions.
